DISABLED HOLIDAYS TO GREECE
Accessing Ancient Greece
Can be Done Can Make it Happen
Enchanted by the archaeology, ancient cities and Acropolises of Greece – a country which gave birth to one of the most notable civilisations in Europe? Then this is your chance to travel back in time to get a taste of what Ancient Greece was once like – with all the modern conveniences that cater to the disabled traveller.
Arriving in Athens
From the UK, low cost flights go straight to Athens Airport, taking around 3 hours and 40 minutes. At the airport, aisle chairs, motorised elevators and wheelchairs are available to physically impaired travellers, as well as friendly (and free) ground assistance. You will feel instantly welcome in this dry and sunny country. Private, wheelchair adapted transfers can get you to your accommodation without difficulties.
We are here to arrange your transport needs for you.
Thanks to the 2004 Olympic & Paralympic Games in Athens, awareness of disability issues has increased massively in Greece. As a result, the main archaeological sites are now much more wheelchair-friendly and offer free admission for a wheelchair user and one companion. We recommend the accessible ancient cities of Mycenae and Epidaurus, the theatre of Epidaurus, the ancient ruins of Olympia and even the Acropolis in Athens (which features a stair lift and an elevator for visitors with disabilities).
We’d be more than happy to tell you all about the ample sightseeing tours available to you.
Work on your Tan at Accessible Beaches
What better way to get into the holiday vibe than to spend some well-deserved hours in the sun? If you’re staying at the Sirens Resort, one of our recommended hotels which especially caters to the needs of wheelchair users and people with mobility issues, you are guaranteed to have one of the best beach experiences imaginable – right on your doorstep! Sea ramp, sea wheelchair, and a fully accessible beach to laze on in a bathing chair are all there to give you the most relaxing seaside experience. The adjacent garden has a gorgeous Greek BBQ, paved pathways all around and a parking area nearby where your taxi or rental car can drop you off.

Enjoy an Island Break
A visit to one of Greece’s idyllic islands makes for a wonderful alternative (or addition!) to visiting the mainland. If you’re seeking something more of a fly and flop kind of holiday, we would not hesitate in recommending Eria Resort on Crete. Set in the gorgeous, historic village of Maleme, where elegant horse-driven carriages are a common sight, this resort caters perfectly for special needs. Special equipment can be hired, medical cialis support is available on site and excursions and activities can be booked from the front desk. All you have to do is put your feet up and relax!
Give us a call and we’ll design the perfect island break for you.
