Paraplegic man in wheelchair and girfriend

At Can Be Done, we are often asked to organise Mallorca holidays for disabled groups and individuals who are in need of a relaxing break. Indeed, if you’re in search of that unbeatable mix of laid-back island culture combined with rich history and unparalleled natural splendour, Mallorca is a go-to destination.

If you have set your mind on a getaway to this Balearic Island, let me tell you about the accommodation options I like to offer when we book holidays for disabled clients with high accessibility needs.*

*Ask us to arrange an electric operated bed or other mobility equipment for you, if required.

Palia Sa Coma, Sa Coma

In the eastern part of the island, about an hour’s drive away from Palma Airport, you can find Palia Sa Coma – heaven for beach boys and babes. With direct access to Sa Coma’s beaches and promenade and all-inclusive accommodation consisting of spacious one-bedroom apartments, you won’t have to worry about anything from the moment you cross the hotel threshold.

Disability-friendly features in the well-adapted apartments include a wheel-in shower, wall mounted shower chair, and grab rails. It’s easy to get around the hotel, and there’s a hoist for getting in and out the pool.

Hotel Cap de Mar, Cala Bona

Slightly further north along the east coast, also at an hour’s drive from the airport, lies Hotel Cap de Mar. If you are looking for a slightly more intimate resort this is a good option for you, and if you can pull yourself away from the sun bed, make sure to have a look around the picturesque fishing harbour of Cala Bona, only 500 metres away from the hotel. While Hotel Cap de Mar makes a great base for any relaxed holidays, for disabled travellers I’d especially recommend it.

Hotel Cap de Mar is fully wheelchair-accessible, from the Thalassotherapy centre to the games room, and the comfortable (half-board or self-catering) apartments feature bathrooms with a walk-in shower, pull down seat, and a bar by the raised toilet.

THB El Cid Hotel, Playa de Palma

With Palma Mallorca Airport only 10 minutes away, the El Cid offers the easiest access upon touchdown. If you want to make the very most out of your holiday time, this 4 star seafront hotel might be just what you are looking for.

With All Inclusive, Bed & Breakfast, and Half Board options, you can be as pampered or independent as you like here. With accessible rooms, an accessible pool, 100cm wide lifts and disabled toilets in the common areas, disabled travellers are being looked after well. Book through my team at Can Be Done to also make use of the spa and saunas, which bring that extra element of cleansing and relaxation to your stay.

Protur Biomar Gran Hotel & Spa, Sa Coma

The 5 star Protur Biomar Gran Hotel & Spa feels like a luxury oasis, with its spacious layout, luxurious bedrooms and four-poster sun beds shaded by lush palm trees outside. From Palma Airport, this accommodation option can be reached in around an hour by transfer.

If you’d like to enjoy some pampering here, get in touch with my team at Can Be Done. Based on your particular accessibility needs, we will make sure that you have the proper arrangements in place well before you depart.

Sol Guadalupe, Magaluf

At a half hour’s transfer ride from Palma airport, the Sol Guadalupe is within easy reach once your plane has touched down. The wheelchair accessible rooms with roll/wheel-in shower allow for carefree holidays. For disabled travellers who come for Magaluf’s nightlife the resort centre is close by, as well is the leisure and shopping centre of Sol Guadalupe. You won’t have a dull moment here!

At Can Be Done we know that welcoming hotels are essential for relaxed holidays. For disabled travellers, these are some of the best options on offer in Mallorca, and if you would like to secure your place at the resort that you like best, give us a call at 020 8907 2400 to get the ball rolling!
